Know Your Artist
I am Akanksha from Bengaluru and I am a true fan of arts and artisans around the country.
For me, it started as a passion. I always felt a subtle undercurrent of creativity since I was a kid – having a reputation of being artistic, adventurous, and dedicated to whatever I did. Long story short – I’ve been creative as far back as I could remember. After being in between jobs for about 8 years, I ventured into entrepreneurship in style – through a self-taught art form that I could never fathom I would get into. Even more so – mastering this art form without much of outside help. Originally being from Raipur but having settled and running my business from Bangalore, India, and having seen the struggles of being in a job and then in a business, I somewhere knew this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
In the beginning, more than just a passion, it was my intrigue for the therapeutic values that Macrame artwork added to my day-to-day life. Because I was so fascinated by it, I would frequent the nearby market, buy what we now know as cords or threads and create something for myself – and have a wonderful feeling about it.
Macrame for me has more than just knots and threads – it is also about presenting myself as an artist, nurturing and improving myself, packaging and selling my products while being environment friendly, and pushing the boundaries my imbibing the feedback that I receive from my customers. I think the most challenging part of being both a Macrame artisan and an entrepreneur is to find the sweet spot between creativity and efficiency, between presenting and preserving, between adapting and improving. The most important thing, however, is the joy I get from it – every single day – that drives me forward.
As a homemaker too, I enjoy having the adrenaline rush of making something new as soon as I get some free time from my daily chores and engage myself in expanding my business, fulfilling customers’ orders, do something creative on social media, and learn new weaving techniques.
Slowly yet steadily, and thanks to a national lockdown in India, I turned this passion and creativity into an art form with my own unique flavour – and then to a full-fledged business of my own, which is now hosted on multiple e-commerce platforms.
We make our products with 100% cotton threads procured from Indian manufacturer with the fine quality. We make designs for Home Décor’ , Kitchen, Accessories, Kids, Fashion and Utility.
We are a registered seller and sell our products on Amazon and several other e-com platforms.
I am determined to go forward on my Macrame journey and hope to be a part of our Indian heritage of weaving.
